ConcreteFold

Concrete Fold – development of a method to create a façade element made of unformed textile concrete with the help of an innovative folding tool.

In this project, an industrial production technology for folded façade elements made of textile reinforced concrete (TRC) is developed and applied to an exemplary façade product. For the application of „façade“, complex geometries are defined and a method for the reshaping of concrete which is still in a plastically deformable state is established. With the help of a novel folding tool and an innovative method of shaping, a TRC-façade element will be created that exceeds conventional concrete façades with regards to technical functionality and aesthetic optics. Through production of the TRC-façade element in the factory of the Fa. Florack Bauunternehmung GmbH, Heinsberg, the practical suitability is proven using a demonstration wall on a 1:1 scale.
